TAYLOR -- A new pipeline expansion is being proposed from Taylor into Alberta.

Pouce Coupe Pipeline, an affiliate company of Pembina, are seeking regulatory approval to expand.

The pipeline would extend east of Taylor to Gordondale, Alberta.

In a request submitted to the Canadian Energy Regulator, the company says they are looking to run 89 kilometres of 16-inch pipe through the region.

The expansion would support existing infrastructure, and would move natural gas and crude between the provinces.

The project is expected to cost just under 341-million dollars, according to a report submitted to the Energy Regulator.

Pouce Coupe Pipeline is asking that the regulator approve their expansion request so they can issue a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity by April 30, 2026.

The certificate would allow the company to begin to fulfill pre-construction conditions.

If the project moves forward, Pembina says they aim to have the pipeline operational by mid-2027.
