TUMBLER RIDGE -- Northern Health is advising residents of Tumbler Ridge of a planned power outage that will impact hospital services.

The outage at the Tumbler Ridge Health Centre is scheduled for July 4th, 2024, and will impact parts of the hospital from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

While the emergency department, reception, and laboratories will remain open using a back-up power supply, some services will not be available.

Those services include the medical clinic, x-ray clinic, and the hospital's phone service.

The outage is a result of work being performed on BC Hydro equipment in the area around the hospital located at 220 Front Street in Tumbler Ridge.

According to Northern Health, 15 to 20 patient appointments had to be rescheduled due to the maintenance.

Those requiring urgent x-rays will be referred to facilities in Dawson Creek or Chetwynd, depending on availability.

The health authority adds the timing of the outage is subject to change.
