Fort St. John man identified and charged in connection with alleged violent home invasion, sexual assault

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. - A Fort St. John man is facing four charges in connection with an alleged violent home invasion and sexual assault reported earlier this week.

Mike Broad, 34, has been charged with sexual assault with a weapon, breaking and entering, uttering threats, and forcible confinement. The alleged incidents occurred on Oct. 27.

Fort St. John RCMP allege a man entered a residence on 87 Street late Tuesday night after following a female home.

“He was initially scared out of the residence by those at the house, and police were called and a neighbourhood search ensued,” the detachment said in a news release the following day.

Police say the suspect later returned to the home and allegedly sexually assaulted a second female resident before being scared off again.

It remains unclear how much time passed between the first police call and the suspect’s return.

The charges have not been proven in court.
