DAWSON CREEK, B.C. - A Dawson Creek woman is facing multiple charges in connection with one of two alleged stabbings that occurred in the city on Monday, while police continue investigating a second stabbing later the same day.
RCMP have charged Vicki Ominayak with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose following an alleged stabbing in the 9600 block of 15th Street.
Police say officers were called to a residence shortly after 11 a.m., where they found one person suffering a stab wound to the lower torso. The victim was taken to hospital with what RCMP described as non-life-threatening injuries..
Investigators secured the scene for much of the day while awaiting the execution of a search warrant.
Neighbours told CJDC TV News they believed two people had been squatting at the residence for several months, although RCMP have not confirmed those claims.

Later that afternoon, at approximately 3:45 p.m., officers were called to the Dawson Creek 7-Eleven after reports that a woman had been stabbed. The woman was also taken to hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.
Sources allege the second stabbing may have been an act of retaliation and that Ominayak was the victim in the second incident. However, Dawson Creek RCMP have not confirmed those details. Sources also allege two female suspects were allegedly involved in the second attack.
Investigators say they are continuing to gather CCTV footage and are working to identify the suspect or suspects involved in the stabbing at the convenience store. Anyone who was in the area of the 7-Eleven at the time and may have dashcam or surveillance video is being asked to contact Dawson Creek RCMP.
Ominayak remains in custody at the Prince George Regional Correctional Centre. Her next court appearance is scheduled for July 9.
