Two people injured in separate stabbings in Dawson Creek

Dawson Creek RCMP are investigating two alleged stabbings that occurred Monday.

Police say the first incident happened around 11 a.m. at a home in the 9600 block of 15th Street.

Officers were called to the residence where one person had been allegedly stabbed and taken to hospital with what are described as non-life-threatening injuries.

The scene was held for most of the day as police awaited the execution of a search warrant.

Later that afternoon, around 3:45 p.m., officers were called to the 7-Eleven.

When officers arrived, they found a woman who had been stabbed. She was taken to hospital also with non-life-threatening injuries.

Sources close to the investigation allege the second stabbing was an act of retaliation.

Investigators are now working to determine the circumstances surrounding both incidents.

RCMP say they are gathering CCTV footage and are looking for a suspect in the second stabbing at the convenience store.

Anyone who was in the area of the 7-Eleven at the time, and who may have dash cam or surveillance video, is being asked to contact Dawson Creek RCMP.

The woman taken into custody cannot be named until formal charges are sworn.

Neighbours tell CJDC TV News that they believe the couple had been squatting at the home on 15th Street for approximately six months, though police have not confirmed those details.

Dawson Creek RCMP said the investigation remains ongoing.
