FORT ST. JOHN -- The Fort St. John Fire Department has seen a year-over-year increase in the number of incident calls they are responding to.
According the new statistics posted by the department, 2012 incidents were attended last year-- averaging about five calls a day.
The department is attributing the increase to a change in the number and types of medical calls they are sent out to.
Of the 2012 incidents, medical response made up 50 per cent of occurrences, followed by fires and alarms that made up 39 per cent, with motor vehicle calls rounding out chart data with 10 per cent.
The fire department also conducted over 2138 fire inspections and conducted 37 fire investigations.
