FORT ST. JOHN -- The driver of a van in Fort St. John is lucky to have escaped serious injury after crashing into a light pole on the Alaska Highway.

The white older model Chevrolet Uplander sustained major front-end damage after slamming into the pole just before 7:00 p.m. on March 20, 2024.

The accident happened on Highway 97  just off of 107th Street. 

The crash promoted a large emergency response with two police cars, fire and ambulance all attending the scene.

Initial reports from an officer at the site of the accident say the driver did not sustain serious injury and “nothing criminal” is being suspected.

Details as to what caused the accident have yet to be released.
