DAWSON CREEK -- A Dawson Creek curler has earned a silver medal at the B.C. Winter Games held in Quesnel last week.

Joey Webb and team Brown-John competed against teams from across the province in the girls' junior curling competition.

They represented Zone 8—made up of players from Williams Lake and Prince George.

They beat out the competition to advance to the gold medal game, where they competed against Team Yoo of Fraser Valley.

In the finals, it was a close competition that came down to a final rock-- Team Yoo with the hammer, managing to out score the Brown-Johns by two points, taking the 5-3 victory to win gold, the Brown-John’s walking away with silver medals.

Webb, 13, has been curling for two years and practices the sport in Dawson Creek.

The team is coached by Wendee Copeland.

Her mother Laurie West spoke to CJDC-TV about the games and said the whole family was in the crowd at the West Fraser Centre cheering her on, with extended family tuning in online.

West says she couldn’t be more proud of her daughter for her accomplishments in this year's games.
