The body of a missing woman has been found near Farmington.

This morning, Dawson Creek RCMP announced they were searching for Anita Nielsen. Nielsen was last in contact with her family on June 22 at 9am.

Police are now confirming Nielsen's body has been found. 

Previously, police said Nielsen may have been in the area of the Old Kiskatinaw Bridge on the Old Alaska Highway, and was likely travelling by foot.

Police committed Search and Rescue, Air Services, and Police Dog Services to the search.

In a media release, police say there does not appear to be a threat to the public in this instance. Further investigation will be conducted by the BC Coroner Service.
