CHETWYND -- The Wildmare Creek wildfire burning near Chetwynd is now listed as being under control.

The wildfire continues to burn 10 kilometres southwest of Chetwynd after it broke out on April 24.

The Wildmare Creek fire was first discovered between the Stone Creek and Dokkie subdivisions. Soon after it was discovered, it exploded to 76 hectares in size.

Weather conditions since last Friday have been favourable for crews trying to get the fire under control.

An Evacuation Order for homes in the Pine River area and two Evacuation Alerts were cancelled last Friday. along with a local state of emergency.

The BC Wildfire Service says the fire is suspected to be human caused.
