MOBERLY LAKE -- A wildfire that was burning out of control near Moberly Lake is now listed being held.
The fire was discovered yesterday burning in a forested area near Boucher Lake and Vermunt Roads and prompted a full response.
It forged a path two hectares in size and is suspected to be human caused.
The Prince George Fire Centre says crews and a response officer from the Dawson Creek Fire Zone responded to the call and weather is not playing a factor in hindering the suppression efforts.
The Fire Centre adds that the fire is not likely to spread beyond its boundaries under the current conditions.
Open Fire Prohibitions associated with Category Two and Three open burns will go into effect at noon on March 28 in the region, that would ban burning piles larger than two metres high and three metres wide, lighting fireworks, and sending up sky lanterns.
“This prohibition is being implemented to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety due to the high grass fire hazard, persistent drought conditions and increased incidence of human-caused wildfires,” said the Prince George Fire Centre in a statement.
