HUDSON'S HOPE -- A wildfire is burning out of control north of Cameron Lake, approximately 25 kilometres south of Hudson’s Hope.

According to the BC Wildfire Service, the fire was discovered just before 4:00 p.m. on May 12th in a forested area along Highway 29 north of Moberly Lake.

The fire doubled in size since Sunday night and is being measured at 300 hectares in size.

The District of Hudson’s Hope said in a social media post that they are aware of the fire and will continue to keep residents updated as they learn more.

There are currently no evacuation orders or area restrictions in place, however it is not clear at this point if any structures are being threatened.

People in the area have reported seeing large plumes of smoke billowing from the fire site as a full response team is on-scene fighting the fire.

The fire is suspected to be human caused, according to the BC Wildfire Service. 

The fire danger rating is currently listed as 'extreme' for the area and a Special Air Quality advisory remains in effected across northeast BC.
