CHETWYND -- A small wildfire is burning out of control near Bond, approximately 23 kilometres northeast of Chetwynd.

According to the BC Wildfire Service, the fire was discovered in a forested area just before 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon between Old Jackfish Road and Jackfish Lake Road.

Currently, the fire is being measured at one hectare in size.

There are currently no evacuation orders or area restrictions in place, however it is not clear at this point if any structures are being threatened.

Southwest wind gusts nearing 43 kilometres an hour are fanning the flames of the fire that is suspected to have been sparked by a dry lightning strike.

A full response team is currently on scene of the fire. 

The fire danger rating is currently listed as 'high' for the area.
