FORT ST. JOHN -- Preparations are underway across the Peace Region for Remembrance Day ceremonies large and small in honour of Canadian soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

Here's a look at what's planned.

Fort St. John:

The Canadian Legion Branch 102 will host its annual Remembrance Day Parade Monday, November 11th.

The legion has a long and rich history in the community, moving three times since it was formed in 1929, and is home to a collection of priceless war memorabilia.

The parade will commence at 10:30 a.m. from the Cenotaph located at 102 Street and 105 Avenue. Marching past the Royal Canadian Legion, the parade will proceed to City Hall before circling back to the Cenotaph.

To accommodate the parade, road closures will begin around 8:30 a.m. and are expected to reopen around 11:30 a.m. Service groups participating in the parade will line up on 102 Street, extending into the rear parking lot of the School District 60 Office.

Spectators are being encouraged to view the parade along 105 Avenue and 100th Street.

Following the parade, a service will be held inside the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 102 at noon. The day's events will continue with games at 1:00 p.m. and a dinner at 6:00 p.m. The community is encouraged to attend, with all ages welcome.

BC Transit will also offer free modified transit services on Remembrance Day to ensure ease of access for attendees.
