FORT ST. JOHN -- People in the Peace Region and across Canada were treated to a dazzling display of northern lights Monday night, as wide stripes of green filled the night sky — and social media feeds.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says that a geomagnetic storm watch was in effect, and has since been extended into Tuesday.
A solar flare last week launched a corona mass ejection towards Earth. A CME is a space weather phenomenon full of magnetized plasma and particles which can interact with Earth’s magnetic field.
The Aurora Borealis could be seen as far south as Vancouver.
