DAWSON CREEK -- The City of Dawson Creek has announced a warming centre opening at 1401 - 102 Ave., the Nawican Friendship Centre.
The centre is currently open and will remain operational until at least November 30th. It's available 24/7. Refreshments will also be available on-site.
The warming centre supports those in need during the colder time of the year.
Meanwhile, the City of Fort St. John tells CJDC TV news the city is without provincial funding to operate a warming centre. However, they say there are other facilities residents can go to get warm.
They say The Friendship Society, The Northern Centre of Hope and the Fort St. John Women Resource Society are all operating warming spaces. The Pomeroy Sports Centre also offers a place for people to stay warm. The Salvation Army is offering a space as well but at this time it is currently full.
