A Fort St. John man who has been on the run for over a year has been arrested in Vancouver.

51-year-old Dana Nazarek was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant. On June 29, 2021, he removed his electronic supervision bracelet and missed his court date that same day. He was absconding from charges of trafficking cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, carfentanil, and heroin in 2018. He was also facing charges of illegal firearm possession.

After a year of evading police, Nazarek was arrested in Vancouver Friday morning. VPD officers found him during a patrol, when they encountered a group of people in the Southeast district of Vancouver who may have been involved in a fight. Officers spoke with people at the scene and located Nazarek.

He was arrested and held for court. His next appearance is scheduled for Monday, August 8th.

Nazarek has a previous conviction in BC Supreme Court for trafficking cocaine and fentanyl. He was sentenced to 40 months in prison.
