CHETWYND -- A wildfire that was burning out of control 23 kilometres northeast of Chetwynd is now listed as being under control.

According to the BC Wildfire Service, the fire was discovered just before 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon between Old Jackfish Road and Jackfish Lake Road.

An Initial Attack Crew responded to the fire that is now measured at 0.85 hectares in size.

The Prince George Fire Centre says the fire occurred in a forested area, and no structural damage has been reported.

No evacuation orders or area restrictions were in place for the area during the time of the fire.

It was originally suspected that the fire was sparked by a dry lightening strike, the wildfire service confirming today human activity is now believed to be the cause.
