CHETWYND -- Update: Mounties say a 10-year-old boy who was reported missing in Chetwynd, B.C., Wednesday has been found safe.

The boy had been last seen at about 3 p.m. and police sent out a news release asking for the public's help to locate him about 90 minutes later.

Both police and local search and rescue crews were involved in the search for the missing boy.

Shortly before 9 p.m. Mounties said the boy was found and is safe.

Pictures of the youth have since been removed from previous coverage, and information has been updated to conceal the identity of the missing youth.    

 

The youth was last seen shortly before 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday June 5, 2024, running into the gully behind the Little Prairie Elementary School located on 51st Street in Chetwynd.

An active police search is currently underway and a local Search and Rescue team has also been dispatched in an effort to find the youth.

He is described as wearing a light coloured t-shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts or have any information that can lead police to the missing pre-teen is asked to contact the Chetwynd RCMP at (250) 788-9221.
