Statistics Canada is reporting that employment didn’t change much in November, as the Canadian economy added a modest 10,000 jobs.

Canada’s unemployment rate fell slightly to 5.1% - just a 0.1% drop from October.

Employment rose in several industries, including finance, insurance, real estate, rental and leasing; manufacturing; as well as in information, culture, and recreation. However, it also fell in several industries, including construction and wholesale and retail trade.

British Columbia’s unemployment rate is now at 4.4%, which is up from 4.2% in October. The provincial economy lost 13,700 jobs.

In Northeast B.C., the unemployment rate was too low to report for the third consecutive month. The data shows a loss of 800 jobs.
