DAWSON CREEK -- According to Stats Canada, Northeast BC’s unemployment rate has increased from 5.2 per cent to 6.4 per cent for the month of August.

However, the employment rate has also risen from 64.6 in July to 65.6.

The National jobless rate has been holding steady at 5.5 per cent, ending a 3 month increase.

40,000 jobs have also been added to the Canadian economy.

In BC, the employment rate has increased by 0.4 per cent over the month of August.

Unemployment dropping in the province from 5.4 to 5.2 per cent in August.
