FORT NESLON -- The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU-BC) and Northern Rockies RCMP are on the lookout for two men linked to a significant drug trafficking investigation in Fort Nelson.
The investigation, launched in January 2023, focused in on an alleged drug operation centered in the municipality.
According to CFSEU, search warrants were executed on two homes in the area, resulting in the seizure of 1.5 kilograms of cocaine, 860 grams of methamphetamine, about one kilogram of marijuana, cash, nine firearms with ammunition, and ‘various drug trafficking paraphernalia.’
On October 3, 2024, the Public Prosecution Service of Canada (PPSC) charged two men with multiple crimes.
Arrest warrants have since been issued for Brandon James Richter, 33, and Marty James Buchanan, 36, both from Fort Nelson.
They are wanted on a number of charges in connection to the probe including trafficking and possessing drugs for trafficking, and unsafe storage of firearms.
“I commend the hard work by my officers and CFSEU-BC that led to the arrest and charges against these men. The collaboration between agencies is essential in removing toxic drugs from our community here in Fort Nelson,” said Cpl. Kyle Petre Officer in a media release, “We will continue our efforts to keep our community safe and protect the most vulnerable.”
Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the men and are asking that anyone with information on their whereabouts to contact their local RCMP detachment.
