DAWSON CREEK -- Northern Health has issued a toxic drug alert for the City of Prince George. Residents are being warned of a purple drug called "down".
Down has tested positive for high levels of fentanyl and bromazolam. It has been linked to the increase in overdoses across Prince George.
Northern Health said the overdoses occur when down is smoked or injected.
They are also recommending users carry naloxone.
Police have said Prince George is used as a hub for transporting illicit drugs from the lower mainland to the peace region.
