DAWSON CREEK -- A Dawson Creek man is facing 11 new criminal charges after being arrested last week.
Tanner Murray was arrested without incident on April 13th after police say he was in violation of several of his release order conditions.
When police searched a vehicle they say was associated with Murray, officers found copious amounts of ammunition, a loaded firearm and support gear for organized crime among other things.
All together, Murray is facing 7 counts of breaching a release order related to this latest incident. He his also facing a number of charges including possessing a defaced firearm.
The 29 year old was already facing charges including flight from police, possessing a firearm for a dangerous purpose and robbery.
Back in January, Murray was arrested by Dawson Creek RCMP after being on run. He was wanted at the time for robbery and uttering threats. A judge promptly released Murray from custody.
Police have applied to keep Tanner in custody however they have taken the unusual step of saying they expect he will be released back into the community.
CJDC TV News has reached out to the BC Prosecution Service for comment. "The Crown sought the revocation of his bail on the original files and detention on all files. The accused is in a reverse onus, which means the accused must show cause as to why he can be released," said Damienne Darby, Communications Counsel with the BC Prosecution Service.
Regardless of the direction given by BC's Attorney General on reverse onus, the judge in the case has asked that a Technical Suitable Report be prepared, to see if Murray eligible for electronic monitoring.
Murray's next appearance is scheduled for April 30th for review of the TSR and for counsel to make submissions on the bail hearing.
