FORT ST. JOHN -- Fort St. John RCMP are currently investigating a fire deemed suspicious at a homeless encampment in the city.
The incident occurred during the evening hours of Wednesday night, between 101st and 102nd Avenue.
The Fort St. John Fire Department responded and managed to extinguish the blaze involving two tents and various debris just before 7:00 p.m.
One individual sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
City officials have documented the damage, and a contractor, along with bylaw officers, was on-site today to clean up the debris.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
This incident follows a previous encampment fire in June, where a woman had to be flown to a hospital in Vancouver after a candle left burning inside a tent ignited a blaze.
