FORT ST. JOHN -- Fort St. John RCMP say a man has been charged after allegedly brandishing a weapon during a robbery at a grocery store.

It happened on Sunday at the Amanda’s No Frills on 98th A Avenue. Police say the man attempted to steal a shopping basket full of groceries.

The suspect was then confronted by an employee of the store. That’s when police say, he produced a weapon and then ran off.

Mounties were able to identify the man from the store’s surveillance video. The suspect was located and arrested without incident, according to police.

Derek Livingstone is facing charges of robbery and breach of a release order.

He is being held in police custody pending his next court appearance which is scheduled for March 6th.
