FORT ST. JOHN -- There were some scary moments in the parking lot of the Totem Mall Friday night as a stolen pick-up truck fled from Fort St. John police.

Mounties were called to the mall just before 7:30pm after a report that a male was doing cocaine behind the wheel of the parked vehicle.

When police arrived, the suspect fled the scene by driving over curbs in the parking lot. Officers decided not to pursue the vehicle In the interest of public safety.

Almost an hour later, police received another call that the same truck was left running in an alley near 90th Street.

 A witness told police a male in a ball cap and white t-shirt fled the scene on foot.

The K-9 team was brought in to help track the suspect. Police were unable to locate the male.

The Denali pick-up was recovered by police although it is extensively damaged.

Fort St. John RCMP continue their investigation. Anyone with any information about the suspect is being asked to contact the detachment.
