DAWSON CREEK -- The Prince George Fire Centre said the return of thick wildfire smoke in the Peace Region is due to shifting winds and a number of fires near Mackenzie.
Two of the fires are near Clearwater Creek, 2 hours north of Mackenzie.
One is being held while the other is still out of control.
Both are nearly 400 hectares in size.
Fire Centre said crews are just monitoring both due to a majority of the resources being used to fight the Nation River Wildfire, 28 kilometers west of Mackenzie.
It’s also caused smoke to billow into the Peace Region.
The Nation River wildfire is still burning out of control at 22, 372 hectares in size.
