A small wildfire is burning near Highway 29 between Chetwynd and Tumbler Ridge.

The fire is located near Gwillim Lake Provincial Park. It has burned less than three hectares and is classified as under control. It is believed to be human caused.

Hot weather over the past several weeks increased fire danger across the province in late July. However, most of the BC’s fires are burning in the southern half of the province.

The fire danger rating in the Peace Region is currently moderate to low. However, a ban on all open fires larger than a campfire remains in effect.
