DAWSON CREEK -- The City of Dawson Creek have put up signs in Peace Park warning of bears in the area.
The City said they were put in place after a bear sighting near the 10th street Bridge.
The Park is near Central Middle School and located in Kin Park.
Bears are currently looking to stalk up on food for the hibernation season.
BC Conservation said they’re reminding people to not feed any of the animals if you come across them.
If you do come across a bear it’s recommended to remain calm and not run.
Instead slowly back away while speaking to the bear in a quiet, monotone voice. If the bear gets close, use pepper spray or something else to threaten or distract it.
If you are with other people, act as a group.
