FORT NELSON -- Another significant seizure targeting organized crime has been made in Fort Nelson, with multiple police units teaming up to take guns, cash, and drugs off the streets.

Northern Rockies RCMP say between November 4th and 10th, seven search warrants were carried out. The investigation led to the seizure of several kilograms of suspected drugs, including methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, and crack cocaine.

Five firearms, approximately 150 cartons illicit cigarettes, and $10,000 in cash were also confiscated.

The Cariboo-Chilcotin Crime Reduction Unit and North District GIS assisted in the investigation, with the units indicating that the seizure would help disrupt the drug trade in the Fort Nelson area.

“The RCMP is committed to battling organized crime in all communities across Canada. These significant seizures will contribute to the disruption of the drug trade in the Fort Nelson area,” said Cst Nathan Smith, Cariboo-Chilcotin Crime Reduction Unit in a release.

The suspects have not been named, pending the approval of charges. There is no word yet if this seizure is connected to a Peace Region drug trafficking network that was dismantled late last month.
