DAWSON CREEK -- Gun shots rang out early Thursday morning in Dawson Creek, breaking 3 months of relative calm in Dawson Creek.
Dawson Creek RCMP said just after midnight, a suspect drove up to the DC Lodge on Alaska Avenue on an ATV and fired shots at a motel room and then sped away from the scene.
Mounties say no one was injured in the shooting as the room was unoccupied at the time.
A person in an adjacent room woke up covered in drywall dust after a bullet penetrated the wall.
Police say they received the first report of the shooting 7 hours after it took place. Mounties are asking for anyone with dashcam of someone driving an ATV or home security footage of the area at the time, to contact the Dawson Creek RCMP detachment.
The incident comes after 3 months of relative calm in Dawson Creek. In May, a wild car chase between Pouce Coupe and Dawson Creek resulted in an SUV having its back window shot out.
Before that, a string of shots fired gripped the community that was at the time, in the middle of a gang turf war over the drug trade in Dawson Creek.
