FORT ST. JOHN -- The current economy is affecting the Fort St. John Women's Resource Society.

According to staff, the number of people using their resources is steadily increasing. In October, over 13-hundred people came into the facility, asking for help. They say that number’s rising as temperatures continue to drop.

During the same time, there’s been a decrease in funding and donations. At one point, staff said the shelves were almost cleared out. Luckily, they received some support from businesses and non-profits in the community.

As the weather becomes colder, they’re seeing more and more people asking for help. They’re currently looking for donations, volunteers and sponsors for their Christmas Hampers. They’re also looking for several good winter gear.
