FORT ST. JOHN -- School District 60 will be reopening five of their schools this week due to the Stoddart Creek and Donnie Creek wildfires decreasing fire activity.

Prespatou School, Upper Pine School and Buick Creek School are reopening tomorrow.

Wonowon and Upper Halfway Schools will reopen on Thursday if the power is restored.

According to B.C Hydro, there is an outage in the Highway 97 area north of Fort St. John near Upper Halfway and Wonowon since May 15 due to the fire. It is affecting 359 customers. Crews found several additional trees on the power line. They have brought in additional vegetation crews and equipment to work in the area removing the fallen tree and making the area safe.

It is estimated that the power will be back by the end of the day.

The district says they will be notifying parents soon.
