New $10-a-day childcare spots are coming to the Peace Region.

The Saulteau First Nation is gaining 24 new spaces at the Cree-ative Wonders Daycare. Eight of those spots are reserved for infants and toddlers, while the other 16 will go to children up to kindergarten age.

The spaces are part of the province’s latest expansion of the $10-a-day childcare program. The B.C. government is adding 1,375 spaces across the province in January.

The newly approved $10-a-day spaces are being offered at 35 child care centres throughout B.C., bringing the total $10-a-day spaces in B.C. to almost 12,000. More spaces will be added during the coming weeks to meet the province’s goal of 12,500 total spaces by February 2023.

“Affordable child care can be life-changing, and with these new $10-a-day spaces, we continue our work to make life more affordable for families with more spaces converted in the next few weeks,” said Grace Lore, B.C.'s Minister of State for Child Care.
