FORT NELSON, BC -- A man in Fort Nelson has been charged after police discovered stolen firearms.

On Friday November 18th, police obtained a warrant to search a residence on 48th Street. Mounties say they had reason to believe stolen items were inside the home.

During the search, police found three stolen firearms, a large quantity of ammunition, a quantity of suspected methamphetamine, as well as various other stolen items.

35-year-old Nathan Dejonghe was arrested and charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Dejonghe has a long criminal history dating back to 2011. He has previously been found guilty of two counts of assault, possession for the purpose of trafficking, and theft.

Dejonghe appeared before Judge Purewal in a virtual bail hearing on Tuesday, and was released from custody. His next court date is scheduled for December 12th.
