FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. -- It could be another sign of the digital age affecting the retail landscape.

Reitman’s is closing up shop in Fort St. John.

More and more business is moving online and the transition has been fast tracked as a result of health restrictions due to COVID -19.

Amid changing consumer habits, retailers in the Totem Mall telling CJDC TV they’re seeing less traffic in their stores.

Reitman’s did not return our call about why the location is shutting down.

The women's clothing store has been there since 1980's. It’s not just consumers affected, about five people will loose their jobs when Reitman’s leaves the mall.

CJDC TV also reached out to the mall management, but they were not able to comment on the closing.

The store is scheduled to close on Sunday.
