DAWSON CREEK -- For the second year in a row, Rae Croteau Jr. took home the top prize at the 2024 Battle of the North Championship.

The Final Heat of pro-chuckwagon racing going down during the final day of the Dawson Creek Exhibition and Stampede.

It was a penalty-free championship ride with Croteau barrelling out of position two aboard the Cinch Oilfield Hauling & Cranes wagon.

Along with outriders Brendan Nolin and Tyler De Sutter, Croteau took first place with a run time of 1:16.58 beating the second and third place competitors by less than a second.

The 2024 championship also marks the second consecutive year Jamie Laboucane placed second to Croteau, who raced out of position four.

The Saskatchewan-born Croteau managing to defend his title and walk away with the $22,000 dollar prize.

The next stop for the 42-year-old will be the Pro Tour held at Rocky Mountain House in Alberta where the 'Battle of the Rockies' Championship kicks off on Thursday.
