FORT ST. JOHN -- There will be no public skating available on the Oval at the Pomeroy Sports Arena this month.
Crews performing summer maintenance found a part of the brine system that needs replacing, leading to a delay in preparing the ice surface.
According to the city, the Oval will be ready in October, which is a month later than planned.
The city adds that despite the delays, the Fort St. John Elks Speed Skating Club will still host ‘The Speed Skating BC Fall Long Track Academy’ at the end of the month.
Meanwhile, registration for sports and recreation activities will take place at the Totem Mall this Saturday, with the full ‘Fall 2024 Recreation and Leisure Guide’ now available on the City of Fort St. John website.
