FORT ST. JOHN -- The Peace River Regional District held its board meeting today and responded to the scathing letter from the North Peace Fall Fair Society.

President of the Society Lita Powell made a passionate statement at the board meeting in response to the PRRD’s Feasibility Study (RFP).

The District issued the RFP to ask for proposals to examine the fall fair grounds for safety.

The Society said the PRRD falsely claimed ownership of the Fair.

Powell said the comments made in the RFP were, “not only incorrect but they’re insulting, demeaning to the thousands of hours of volunteer work.”

She said the study also showed a lack of transparency from the District.

The PRRD responded and said the claim of ownerships was due to a typo. They said the word ‘grounds’ was accidentally left out.

A retraction was made and the mistake was fixed.

The District also admitted the study wasn’t, “phrased nicely” towards the Society.

However, a number of accusations from the letter weren’t addressed.

It included denying financial support to the Society and the release of the RFP coming a week before the Fall Fair.

A formal apology wasn’t issued but the PRRD said they look forward to working with the Fall Fair Society in the future.
