DAWSON CREEK, BC -- The City of Dawson Creek has received funding for a number of environmental projects.

The province is providing the money through the Local Government Climate Action Program. The goal is to reduce emissions and prepare communities for the effects of climate change.

Dawson Creek has used the money for several local projects, including upgrading the 102nd Avenue Bridge to increase creek flow capacity during a flood.

The city used funds for upgrades to the Kin Arena boiler and heating system, as well as a yard waste composting program.

The funding also went towards replacing street lights with more efficient LED bulbs.
