The provincial government is committing $25 million to help natural resource companies fight climate change.
The money comes from carbon tax revenue through the CleanBC Industry Fund. It will fund 26 projects across the province aimed at helping large industrial operations reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Fourteen of those projects are taking place in Northeast BC. The biggest local grant is going to NorthRiver Midstream Inc, with $6.43 million dollars allocated to significantly reduce emissions at their gas plant north of Pink Mountain.
Other major grants include $4.23 million across two projects for Ovintiv Canada ULC and $2.65 million to Tourmaline Oil Corp. In total, the projects aim to cut 6.3 million tons of emissions over a ten-year period.
