A province-wide ice fishing tournament is kicking off next week.
The 2023 Shake off the Blues Ice Fishing Tournament begins February 1st, and lasts all month long. People can participate from anywhere in B.C.
There are prizes to be won for best catches in a wide variety of fish categories. There are also prizes for best video of the angler handling and releasing the fish. Angler’s Atlas, the organization running the tournament, encourages participants to practice catch and release.
Researchers will use the data on the fish caught to learn more about the health of the lakes across the province.
