FORT ST. JOHN -- Those looking to rent out city facilities in Fort St. John will soon have to shell out a bit more.
The city has proposed changes to its fee structure for recreation rentals.
The new bylaw would see a slight rate increase for the Pomeroy Sports Centre, North Peace Arena, and Kids Arena Fieldhouse among others.
The biggest increase coming for per day use of the Pomeroy with a commercial day rental there projected to cost $279 more, impacting the cost for events such as the Fort St. John Trade Show.
Dry floor and ice rink rentals will range anywhere from $2 to $10 more for non-profit and commercial events.
There will be marginal increases of a dollar for outdoor facility rentals including ball diamonds and soccer pitches, while family pricing for drop-in public skate or dry floor programs will increase from $15 to $16.
The cost to host an event or run a food truck in Festival Plaza will also be going up, with an increase there costing event organizers and vendors one to two dollars more both on an hourly and per day basis.
The bylaw has been adopted by title only and would go into effect through the remainder of the year into 2025.
