DAWSON CREEK, BC -- A man was the victim of a robbery in Dawson Creek over the long weekend.

Police say on Saturday afternoon around 2pm, they received a call from a man who reported he’d been robbed within the past hour.

The victim said it happened when he was walking on 17th Street between 108th and 102nd Avenue. He reported he was hit from behind in the back of the head and knocked to the ground. Then, two to three unknown people kicked him while he was down on the ground, and ran away with his backpack.

The victim sustained significant, but non-life threatening injuries to his head and forearms.

Police believe there are witnesses to the robbery, as it happened on a busy roadway. Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to contact the Dawson Creek RCMP at (250) 784-3700.
