CHETWYND -- Northern Health is advising residents of Chetwynd of an on-going phone outage impacting the district’s hospital and primary care clinic.
The hospital and clinic are currently unable to receive or make outgoing phone calls.
According to Telus, service technicians are currently on-site to repair damage on its lines following a ‘cable theft.’
“Both facilities remain open at this time. If you need to reach either facility, please physically come to the building. If you are experiencing an emergency, please call 9-1-1,” said Northern Health in a social media notification.
Photos posted by the telecom company shows downed wires and what appears to be vandalized cables.
“Telus services are currently experiencing a disruption impacting landline phones, which may affect your ability to reach emergency (911) services,” said the company in a service status update.
There is currently no timeline as to when the service will be restored.
