Pedestrian in FSJ hit by a dump truck - driven to hospital by firefighters due to ongoing paramedic shortage
Police attend the scene of an accident on September 21, 2022.
FORT ST. JOHN -- An accident in Fort St. John on Wednesday morning sent one man to hospital.
Emergency officials said around 11:30am, a pedestrian was hit by a dump truck at the intersection of 100th Street and 102nd Avenue.
The man suffered minor injuries and was taken to Fort St. John Hospital as a precaution.
The ambulance had to be driven by a Fort St. John firefighter instead of a BC Ambulance Service paramedic. This is a practice that occurs regularly in Fort St. John and across the rest of the province because of the ongoing paramedic shortage.
A number of phone calls to the Fort St. John RCMP were not returned.
