FORT ST. JOHN -- A man who has been identified as a teacher at Upper Pine Elementary is standing trail in connection to number of sexual assault charges.
Jerad Dean Neufeld was charged with one count of sexual assault, two counts of sexual assault with a weapon, and ‘threats to a third party or causing bodily harm.’
The case was heard in a closed courtroom at Fort St. John Law Courts on October 8th and 9th.
Court Service staff could not provide CJDC-TV with details of the hearing that is currently subject a publication ban.
School District 60 has confirmed that there is ‘no suggestion’ that the charges stem from acts committed against minors and that there is and has not been any risk to students.
The trial remains on-going and no further information is being made publicly available at this time.
Neufeld’s next court appearance is scheduled for November 18th, 2024, in Fort St. John.
