CHETWYND -- Chetwynd RCMP say a man has died following a boating incident on the Pine River.
Police were called to the scene after a report of a missing person, west of Chetwynd on Sunday.
Mounties say the man and a child were on the shore when they noticed the river boat floating away down river. The man jumped into the river to retrieve the boat and was seen go under the surface.
Fort St. John Search and Rescue were called to assist in the search for the missing man. Sadly, the man was located on shore downstream from the boat launch deceased.
Police say the young child is safe and was unharmed.
BC Coroners Service has taken over of the investigation and the RCMP will not be releasing any further information.
