FORT ST. JOHN, BC -- One person is in serious condition after a two-vehicle accident on the Alaska Highway Tuesday morning.

It happened at the intersection of the Alaska Highway and 269 Road in Fort St. John. The Fort St. John Fire Department responded to the accident just after 10am.

Deputy Chief Matt Troiano said the two vehicles involved were heavily damaged. One driver had to be extracted from their vehicle, and was transported to hospital in serious condition.

The other driver was reportedly not injured. The cause of the accident is unknown.
